Neal Sarahan

I came to Compassionate Houston through my friendship with Ted Isensee, Treasurer, and former board member, Cyrus Wirls.

Networking and expanding community engagement in compassionate action draws my focus and attention. With a degree in political science, my political work has been dedicated to expanding democracy. As a developmental psychologist, I am committed to assisting others toward their full growth capacity, especially those with neurological differences.

I am associated with Heifer International as co-organizer of the “Houston Heifers,” board member of the Isensee Foundation for Safe Police Response, member of the Mental Health Needs Council of Harris County, past program director at the Brookwood Community, The Monarch Institute, and past Executive Director at the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Greater Houston and the current vice-president of the Harris Center 811 Housing Board.

I am co-director of Integral Flow, a human development consultancy to businesses, schools, and families. I’m a member of the Southern Poverty Law Project, the Progressive Forum, the Environmental Defense Fund, a Citizens Police Academy member of the Harris County Sheriff’s office, Harris County Precinct Chair, and a member of Crisis Intervention Team for the State of Texas.

I’m a Dad to two fine guys and their wives, grandfather to three, and husband to Joyce for 40 years this year. I’m a baseball historian, and Sarahan/Flanagan family archivist. I love following Richard Rohr and Brother David Steindl-Rast.

I am thankful for the opportunity to join so many others in the work, joy, and play of compassion.
