Marlin Murdock

Marlin is a retired public school administrator and human resources professional. His career included public school administration in Massachusetts and the Greater Houston community. He held positions in human resource administration and organizational development in both the financial and healthcare arenas, including Memorial Hermann Hospital, St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital and DaVita Dialysis.

In addition to his professional work, Marlin has provided leadership to several organizations as a board member and volunteer in the area of housing and human services, including the People With AIDS Coalition, Bering Omega Community Services /Omega House, and as a volunteer group facilitator at Bo’s Place, instructor with the Down Syndrome Association of Houston and Care Team Member with IMGH.

Upon his retirement, in search of his calling for the next stage of his life, Marlin, at 68, completed the 500-mile Santiago de Compostela Pilgrimage. Since then, he has followed his calling to create and hold space for others, especially those suffering and those who are at the end of life. He does this as a certified community End of Life/Death Doula for individuals throughout the community and at Omega House and other facilities.

Since 2020, Marlin has created and led over 25 community book studies that have involved over 100 participants in Houston and around the country. He is currently a volunteer with Second Servings of Houston, Refugee Services of IMGH, and Sky Farm of Blackwood Educational Land Institute.
