The Power of Healing Together

unity of houston

March 16, 2025, 1:00 - 3:30 PM

Gender Equity and Reconciliation International (GERI) workshops apply principles of Truth and Reconciliation to open new pathways to healing, respect, compassion, and genuine collaboration between women and men, and across the genders. Developed over 33 years and conducted with thousands of participants across six continents, GERI was formally endorsed by Archbishop Desmond Tutu in 2013. This experiential session creates a safe space where participants are invited into a deeper understanding and appreciation of their own and others’ life experiences in relation to gender. Together, women, men, and people of all genders and sexual orientations are guided skillfully through a group process that awakens greater compassion, empathy, understanding, and higher reverence across the genders.

Inspired by Houston’s unparalleled multicultural landscape—the most ethnically diverse city in America—this program is a tribute to the voices, traditions, and rhythms that shape our global identity. In concert with the Persian New Year of Nowruz, we honor the richness of global traditions while reflecting on a fundamental question: Can a nation truly uphold the promise of freedom of speech, religion, and diversity of thought—the very principles that define its democratic DNA?
