Raymond Stubblefield

Raymond Stubblefield is a Native Houstonian passionate about social justice, leadership, and building stronger communities through compassion and connection. He served as an educational leader in public schools in Houston's underserved communities for over thirty years before retiring in 2023. During his two decades as an elementary school principal, Raymond initiated support systems for students and families while garnering academic recognition. He was named principal of the year three times and Texas National Distinguished Principal Finalist in 2021.

After retiring from public schools, Raymond has found opportunities to serve and impact vulnerable Houstonians through community-based organizations that cultivate compassion and connection. He serves as a court-appointed guardian ad litem for a foster child through Child Advocates. He has also participated in the Complete Communities initiative through the City of Houston Neighborhood Department, whose mission is to build one complete city from recovery to resilience by championing the voices of residents that have been ignored and offering every Houston resident the foundational resources needed to thrive. Last year, Raymond completed the Houston Citizens Police Academy and serves as a volunteer for the alumni organization.

Raymond also continues to support, mentor, and coach future school leaders in Houston and throughout the country by serving in the school leadership support programs at Rice University and Texas A&M University. Raymond recently began serving as the Minister of Congregational Life at Covenant Church in Houston’s museum district. His service areas include preaching, teaching, counseling, new-member orientation, and pastoral care.

Raymond enjoys reading poetry and walking his two dogs around his Lindale Park neighborhood in his spare time.
