We are excited to kick-start our Make a Difference Fundraising Campaign in concert with October 26, Make A Difference Day - a day that encourages all of us to step up, take action and make a positive impact in our communities. And there is considerable scientific evidence that we benefit too when we do this: By changing the world around us, we change ourselves.

Who Are We ~ What Do We Do ~ What Have We Achieved

Since 2011, Compassionate Houston has served as an umbrella and a lightning rod for Houstonians with a “Passion for Compassion.” Our mission is to cultivate the compassionate culture of Greater Houston, based on the principles of the Charter for Compassion and its Compassionate Cities/Communities model. We have four specific aims at Compassionate Houston and meet those aims in collaboration with our network of partners, our all-volunteer working Board, (and, increasingly, volunteers) through select educational, collaborative, and compassion-focused programs and projects that raise compassionate awareness and the message of common humanity.

The Programs Where Your Financial Support And Engagement Can Make A Difference

• Seasonal Book Studies: Our four book studies a year foster connection among those who join and increase incentive and understanding to practice compassion, kindness, and respect consistently.

• Compassionate Integrity Training (CIT): CIT allows participants to develop and integrate basic human values as skills on a transformative path to personal growth, empathy, and connection.

• Annual Compassion Week offers approximately 15 programs in coordination with partner organizations and a network of friends to create awareness and implementation of everyday compassion practices throughout Houston.

• Project Kindness pairs together college students and elders for 10 weekly sessions exploring intergenerational understanding and kindness as critical features of a healthy functioning community and culture.

• Compassion Through the Arts serves as a powerful tool to evoke empathy and bridge divides by recognizing and inviting diverse artists to express the universal emotions that connect us all.
